RABBIT PROOF PLANTS

No plant is said to be really rabbit proof. Young rabbits investigate by nibbling most plants. They soon learn which plants are tasty and which ones to leave alone.

In general rabbits dislike very aromatic plants, plants that ooze caustic milky sap, prickly plants, plants with spines, or plants with tough leathery leaves.

Below is a list of plants which are considered rabbit resistant.  These are only from A to E in the alphabet.

TIP

If you are looking for plants to suit your personal garden and growing conditions then I have found an invaluable site.

This free to use website has a database of over 3,700 plants and over 10,500 photographs to help with plant identification and it is growing daily.

Each plant is accompanied with images, full plant description, Latin names explained, planting and illustrated pruning advice plus superb photographs and information on pests and diseases.

There is also a very interesting 'time lapse' feature on some of the items which shows how a plant grows over several months.

The illustrated pruning advice shows you what to do with added personal comments from the authors to help with some plants.
